Why Philosophy? Athena Teaching Student

Overall, philosophy is an excellent part of any student's general University Education. Courses in philosophy can be taken towards several degrees; and virtually all programs of study at SDSU can be enriched by the inclusion of one or more of our courses. Masters programs are offered for students who wish to go on to do graduate study in Philosophy.

Activities

Community Involvement
Philosophy is often viewed as a discipline which does not engage in much activity besides thinking, reading, and writing. While much of our time is indeed spent doing these things, we also believe that action within the community is just as important. In keeping with this spirit every semester Phi Sigma Tau will be engaging in events aimed at positively interacting with the local community. Activities may include but are not limited to: environmental clean-ups, reaching out to kids in K-12, or various charitable endeavors. Please stay tuned as to what we will be doing this semester.

Student Library
In the interest of providing the students of philosophy at San Diego State University with free access to a variety of philosophical texts, Phi Sigma Tau has begun efforts to establish a student library. The library can be located in the grad office AL-430. If you would like to donate books please contact us by email at phisigmatausdsu@gmail.com.

Free Tutoring Hours
Members of Phi Sigma Tau have graciously decided to offer free tutoring hours to students in intro level classes. If you would like help with specific material, learning how to read philosophical texts, writing a philosophical essay, or just simply want to chat with someone who has experience in the major, then please stop by The Agora, located in room AL-441. Tutoring hours will begin the week of Sept. 16. Days and times are TBA.
