INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT POSITION FOR FALL 2007


GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under supervision, Instructional Student Assistants perform grading or tutoring duties in an academic department or equivalent administrative unit over the course of an academic term.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Incumbents must possess the ability to learn and perform assigned work; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; and accept responsibility. Completion of specific coursework may be required in order to teach, grade or tutor a course. Special Qualification: On-Campus Instructional Student Assistants must be currently enrolled in the MA Philosophy Program

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong writing skills are preferred.

EXCEPTIONS: Exceptions to minimum eligibility qualifications may be granted at the sole discretion of the hiring department/authority.

HIRING CRITERIA: 1) Evidence of outstanding achievement in academic work. (2) A Graduate Student at SDSU, preference given to Philosophy majors/graduate students.  (3)  Will accept full or part time enrollment status.

PERCENTAGE OR HOURS OF APPOINTMENT: This is an hourly position, funding dependent upon enrollment. Approximately 5 – 10 hrs per week.
